Ever seen a fat cyclist? There is a fat chance of you saying yes, because there simply aren’t any fat cyclists! Well, discounting your neighbourhood uncle there aren’t any.

What makes cycling a great physical exercise?

2. Low weight bearing: Running can be hard for people who do not want to put exert extra pressure on their joints. In cycling, the cycle takes most of the weight of the body thus making it ideal for people with weak joints.

3. Low skill: High skilled exercise can be hard for some people, but cycling requires no special skill than to know how to ride a cycle. Cycling is one such activity that you can not forget once you learn it, all you need is confidence to ride and a cycle!

These facts combined make cycling a great exercise and a cycling life style can also lessen the risk of you getting ailments like coronary heart diseases, high blood pressure, and obesity. Make sure you consult your doctor before starting some serious cycling in case you have been in-active for some time.

Along with these health benefits cycling has a lot of practical advantages too which can help you and the environment around you become better and more beautiful.
First off, cycling causes no pollution, each cycle ride you take instead of taking out your car or motor-bike saves fuel and also puts a tab on pollution. You don’t need a license to drive a cycle, and most of all, you can not be challaned on a cycle. Cycles are low maintenance vehicles which do not need constant care and servicing like a car or a motorcycle. And last but not the least, a cycle is cheaper than any other mode of conveyance that you can buy. These days the markets are full of much better looking and stylish cycles than yesteryears, and you can get your hands on cycles with multi-level gears, helmet and head-lights and several accessories.

So, do a favor to yourself and the environment around you and get a cycle for commuting to small distances and hey, if you can leave just a bit early why not to office also!
