Penguin Books India announces with pride that the 2009 Penguin Annual Lecture will be delivered by Nobel Laureate Professor Amartya Sen, one of the leading public intellectuals in the world. The lecture is titled 'Justice-and India', and is based on his new book, which is being published by Penguin this August.
Penguin's prestigious Hamish Hamilton imprint (to be launched in India this July) has bought world English language rights (excluding the USA) from Vikram Seth's agent, David Godwin.
For the very first time, The Penguin Annual Lecture will be held this year in Kolkata; the venue is the Nandan auditorium and the date is 5 August 2009.
The Idea of Justice is the new book from the best-selling author of The Argumentative Indian, and one of the most important philosophical works of our time. The Penguin Lecture will provide audiences in India the very first opportunity to hear Professor Sen speak on the issues discussed in his new book.
