Bluetooth Headsets
One can see the Bluetooth market heating up between with a showdown between cell phone headsets and those that pledge to make inbound calls sound clearer than ever. New cell phone headsets promise to reduce background noise and improve clarity but mostly, they fail to attain both objectives.
In April, Aliph, maker of the popular Jawbone, and Plantronics unveiled new high-end headsets. These work on new sensor technology which filters noise from honking cars, barking dogs and howling winds.
But at the end of the day it's the consumers who have to choose whether they want to hear more clearly or be heard more clearly?
LG recently announced a headset that features three microphones .one more than most other Bluetooth devices and is designed to improve sound quality for the listener's benefit. Plantronics' Caldarella, in contrast, calls inbound audio the "next new pain point. The Voyager Pro aims to help users hear that other side of the conversation by adding new hardware (a larger speaker) and software algorithms.
Better headsets are on the way. A faster type of Bluetooth- Bluetooth 3.0, is expected to show in the markets by the end of the year or early 2010. It is an improved headset as it promises improved power management and reduce dropped connections. Bluetooth is also making its way into other devices and applications, including notebooks and cars
Bluetooth accessories market is holding up despite the economic slowdown.
